Stefan M. Cooper, Jr.

Assistant Professor of Chemistry, Alcorn State University

Stefan M. Cooper, Jr. developed an interest in material science during his postdoctoral appointment as a Path to Professorship Fellow with Hampton-Brandeis Universities’ PREM. Cooper has a PhD in Synthetic Organic Chemistry from Louisiana State University.

Current Position

Cooper is currently an Assistant Professor of Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry and Physics at Alcorn State University

Research Interests and Future Goals

Cooper is interested in Governing Site-Selectivity for Remote C-H Functionality with Azoheteroarene Molecular Photoswitches and Photocontrolled Micellar Drug Delivery. Cooper hopes to work in Photovoltaics Organic.

Impact of PREM

"Joining PREM afforded me a vital opportunity to work in material science (my PH.D. training was in synthetic organic methodology), which tremendously expanded my research scope and utility as an independent investigator. I am indebted to the training provided. The program has equally helped in expanding my scientific network and strengthening my passion for the education and training of underrepresented scientists."
