Xavier University of Louisiana recently welcomed high school chemistry teachers for a hands-on, weeklong training through its 2025 PREM Teacher-Training Program.
The recent meeting brought together program leaders and NSF staff in Alexandria, Virginia for a day of collaboration, strategy, and shared vision.
Troie Journigan, a postdoc at Purdue University, is researching quantum dynamics in molecules and developing innovative experimental methods to generate entangled biphotons. A former graduate student at the University of Central Florida’s PREM Center, she was recently named the top emerging researcher of 2024 by the Journal of the Optical Society of America B for her study showing how the optical technique, high-order harmonic generation (HHG)—applied in thin films, can assist interpreting solid-state spectroscopic processes. Journigan et al. further experimentally demonstrate the sensitivity of the harmonic spectra to film preparation and crystallinity—an advance that could benefit future material sciences research. Check out the study.
