On December 12, 2025, the UPR-PENN PREM celebrated its 20th Joint Annual Meeting. Since its start in 2004, the program has brought together faculty, students, and members of the External Advisory Board every fall in Puerto Rico to share research and education achievements and plan future initiatives. The tradition was interrupted only once, in 2017, following the devastation of Hurricane María. This year’s  meeting included representatives from the University of Puerto Rico (Humacao, Cayey, and Mayagüez campuses), University of Pennsylvania, Saint Joseph’s University, University of Maryland, LaSalle Group and Celanese Co. For the first time, the meeting was hosted at the Cayey campus of the University of Puerto Rico. The program included faculty presentations, a student poster session, and a productive discussion on  PREM’s future, focusing on strategies to sustain the impact of two decades of collaboration and successes.
