Sparking Curiosity In Materials Science!!
¡MIRA!-PREM's Sparking Curiosity in STEM (SparCS) team participated in multiple community events reaching thousands of students, families, and community members in the southwest and beyond. A specific highlight was participation of the SparCS team in UT-Austin's STEM Girl Day (Feb 22, 2025).
A group of NAU ¡MIRA!-PREM students, faculty and staff, joined by students and staff from our new partner, the Center for Dynamics and Control of Materials (CDCM), introduced SparCS to the Austin community.
At UT Austin's STEM Girl Day, the team engaged hundreds of junior high girls and their families - utilizing accessible hands-on activities to spark curiosity in cutting edge materials science, quantum technologies, photonics/optics and foremost have fun with STEM.
