The Mission of the Texas State University PREM Center on Interfaces in Materials is to increase participation by underrepresented groups in materials research. The Texas State PREM engages a strong regional demographic by the integration of discovery research into education/outreach activities. This Center uses a cascade of mentorship to promote participation at every educational level. This Center will have a vigorous, long-term collaborative relationship with our partner, The Research Triangle MRSEC, based on transformative science that will demonstrably enhance recruiting and retention of underrepresented groups into materials research. The Center fosters interdisciplinary research in nanoassembly at the materials/biochemistry interface. The Center uses a strong management plan to facilitate: “team science” between partners, access to infrastructure, societal impact, and internal/external assessment of progress and achievements.
