With a new partner, IMOD, a major goal of the last year of the partnership with STROBE was to provide as many opportunities as possible to for students to meet with their new community and learn their science.

One of the major outcomes from collaborating between all parties was a technical workshop on battery chemistry hosted at Fort Lewis College by IMOD graduate students and advised by STROBE staff. Many undergraduates in PEAQS are engineering or physics majors. This workshop was an opportunity to gain technical and hands on experience with the chemistry, specifically electrochemistry in a way that is applicable to their own studies. This workshop will go a long way in preparing the students to work in more chemistry-based labs that study optoelectronic devices. All FLC and NSU summer students participated.
