The PREM partnership broadened pathways to degree attainment for students through integrated undergraduate, graduate, Bridge, and REU programs that combined research, mentoring, and professional development across CSULB and OSU.

Students engaged in collaborative, interdisciplinary projects spanning quantum materials, molecular topology, and nanofabrication, supported by reciprocal exchanges and regular joint meetings. We had 21 CSULB summer research projects and 8 CSULB students doing REUs at OSU’s CEM.

Through hands-on training on advanced instrumentation (AFM, STM, ARPES, nanofabrication, microscopy) and participation in conferences, workshops, and a joint PREM symposium, participants developed strong research skills while strengthening cross-institutional collaborations in physics, chemistry, and materials science.

8 undergraduates and 15 master’s students graduated with their hard-earned degrees.
