First Prizes in TMS 2007 Student Posters Competition

During its 2007 Annual Meeting held in Orlando, FL (Feb. 25 - March 2) The Minerals, Metals and Materials Society (TMS) hosted their Technical Division Student Posters Contest. The competition included five technical categories. Two PREM undergraduate students won first prizes their corresponding technical divisions.

  • Carlos Báez: “Influence of Varying Cooling Rates on the Directional Solidification of an Aluminum-Copper-Boron Composite” First Prize of the Materials Processing & Manufacturing DivisionJosé Vázquez wins First Prize Carlos Báez wins First Prize José Vázquez and Carlos Báez are senior Mechanical Engineering students working in Prof. O. M. Suárez’s research group under the mentorship of Luvina Reyes, former PREM MS student (now in CBI company in TX), and Sandra Pedraza, also PREM MS student (now PhD student in Arizona State Univ.). This is the very first time that UPRM students win these awards.
